Aspiring entrepreneurs often need that motivation, inspiration and support from those who have walked the path before.  eTalkz has roped in some well-renowned entrepreneurs, such as Happy Ntshingila, Co-Founder of Herdbouys and Author of Black Jerusalem, to do just that.

I have already started encouraging entrepreneurs on Alumni Valley to make the most of the eTalkz events. eTalkz has provided that type of forum where insights from one session could scale your business to greater heights.

Tatenda Mark (TM): Thank you for taking time to chat about eTalkz. What is eTalkz about and what made you start it?

Zama Mhlambi (ZM): The reason why eTalkz was started is because we saw that there is a need to help educate the young and the old who wish to start or grow their businesses.

Starting a business is not easy, especially when you don’t have a clue where and how to start. There are many challenges one faces in the early stages of the business, whether it be lack of capital, knowledge, or support.

Being an entrepreneur is not for everyone, it is not as easy as it sounds….be open to receiving help. You cannot do everything alone.

With our initiative we seek to provide attendees with the knowledge, skills and motivation to encourage entrepreneurial success in a variety of settings.

Unemployment is a very serious problem in our country; small businesses could be the solution to help reduce the high unemployment rate South Africa is currently facing.

TM: I do agree, there is a serious need for business support, especially for early-stage businesses. What challenges do you face as eTalkz in offering this support and what do you wish to accomplish as eTalkz?

ZM: Just like any brand, the biggest challenge we have faced was getting the word out there and actually getting the attendees to trust what we are about. I am happy to say that we have grown and continue to grow each month since our debut session back in August last year (2016).

To ensure that the meetings deliver on expected objectives, we have different people in different industries share their experiences, aspirations.

With the challenges come opportunities of having successful entrepreneurs share their journeys and eventually inspiring attendees to start what they have been thinking about for months or even years.

We aspire to grow the brand to allow us to reach more existing and aspiring entrepreneurs.

TM: Seems like attendees stand to benefit from advice from experienced entrepreneurs. What advice would you give to people looking to be entrepreneurs?

ZM: Being an entrepreneur is not for everyone, it is not as easy as it sounds.

Before starting your business be sure what you want to do, do as much research as you can possibly do.

If you are going to do what everyone is doing, be clever about it, do it smart and most importantly be open to receiving help. You cannot do everything alone.
