Zaeemah Robinson - Market Manager at The Conscious Living Fayre

If I did anything 4 money, I would have stayed in corp. business where I earned a good salary Click To Tweet and all the perks and consumerism that goes with it. I loved managing facilities, planning new spaces and offices, managing buildings and implementing new and sustainable processes, had lots of fun in the workplace but it was time to move on to my next life experience.

I started The Conscious Living Fair in January 2013 after the previous fair moved away and at the request of some of the old fair traders, but mainly because it concerned me that there was a loss in earnings in an economy that was slowing down. It was also an opportunity for traders to continue making a living Click To Tweet

It was time to move on to my next life experience.

My suggestion to anyone who starts a market and fair is to prepare to put in many hours Click To Tweet You will face many challenges and you may not make money for a while. Also, to get a good support team – the 4 people who help each month to ensure that the fair runs efficiently are Isabella, Majit, Abdullah and Olive and all of them have been there since the fair started 3 and a half years ago.

There are a number of quality participants/traders who have also been there from the start and each month we get new traders, some staying for a while and some only one month. Being an alternative and holistic fair, this is not necessarily a fit for everyone.  My vision is to have a conscious living centre re-using a building no longer in use, offering alternative wellness practices, natural and organic products, practical and fun products made with recycled items, sustainable living solutions and an opportunity for small businesses to sell their products in an affordable space. My 15 plus years in corporate facilities and building management will be in good use in a community centre where we can continue to host the fair each month and other events which relates to conscious living.

What is not well known is that I also do alternative therapies for the past 14 year and have a gift for releasing and relieving physical and emotional pain. I do not call myself a healer as all healing comes from each person’s understanding of what God is. Despite the often challenging times we live in, as an eternal optimist, I wake up each day feel blessed to be a part of this amazing and ever-changing world.
